Three easy ways:

  • Website: Click "Book a Cab" on halarentals.com
  • WhatsApp: Message +91 78 8805 8806
  • Call: +91 78 8805 8806

Is pre-booking more expensive than hiring at the airport?

No! Pre-booking costs exactly the same as spot hiring. But with pre-booking, you get a confirmed vehicle, a driver waiting with your name, and zero stress negotiating with multiple drivers at arrivals. It's the smart choice.

What is your cancellation policy?

If you cancel before the trip starts, there's no charge. However, if you cancel during the trip (mid-itinerary), full payment is still due. This is standard across all Kashmir cab services. We recommend booking only when your plans are confirmed.

Do you accept online payment / UPI?

Yes, we accept UPI, bank transfer, and cash. Payment details are shared after booking confirmation. Typically, a partial advance is taken to confirm the booking, with the remaining amount paid during or after the trip.

🚗 Vehicles & Driving

Which vehicle should I choose for my group?
  • 1-2 people: Sedan (₹2,000/day) — compact, budget-friendly
  • 3-4 people: Ertiga (₹2,200/day) — spacious, good luggage room
  • 5-6 people: Innova (₹2,700/day) — reliable, mountain-ready
  • 5-7 people (premium): Innova Crysta (₹3,100/day) — extra comfort
  • Luxury / Snow: Fortuner (₹5,500/day) — handles snow roads, VIP feel
Do I really need AC in Kashmir?

October to April: No! Weather is cool to cold — AC is unnecessary.

May to September: AC is helpful in Srinagar city, but Gulmarg, Pahalgam, and Sonamarg are naturally cool at altitude. Many travellers skip AC even in summer and save ₹1,500-2,500 on a 5-day trip.

What are the cab timings and extra hour charges?

Maximum duty: 10 hours per day, expected return by 6:00 PM. Extra hours beyond this are charged at ₹180/hour. Plan day trips accordingly — start early to maximize sightseeing.

Are your drivers experienced and verified?

Yes. All Hala Rentals drivers are born-and-raised Kashmiris with years of mountain driving experience. They are verified, have clean driving records, and many are mentioned by name in our Google reviews (Siraj, Owais, Ashiq). They also serve as informal local guides.

🏔️ Destinations & Routes

Can my cab go inside Pahalgam, Gulmarg, and Sonamarg?

No. Local taxi union rules prohibit outside vehicles from sightseeing inside these destinations. Your Hala Rentals cab drops you at the entrance, and you hire local union vehicles or ponies for internal sightseeing. This applies to ALL cab services in Kashmir, not just ours. We're upfront about this.

Can I go directly from Pahalgam to Gulmarg?

Yes, but a ₹1,000 surcharge applies. The standard system is hub-and-spoke from Srinagar — you return to Srinagar first, then go to the next destination. Going directly between destinations bypasses the base and triggers the extra charge.

What is included in Pahalgam sightseeing?

Our cab takes you to Pahalgam town (drop and return). Internal valleys — Aru Valley, Betaab Valley, and Chandanwari — require local union vehicles and are NOT included in our fare. Budget ₹1,500-3,000 per valley for local transport.

Is Sonamarg accessible in winter?

No. The road to Sonamarg typically closes from November to April due to heavy snowfall. Plan Sonamarg visits between May and October only.

What is the best Kashmir itinerary for 5 days?

Our most popular 5-day itinerary:

  • Day 1: Airport → Srinagar sightseeing (Mughal Gardens, Dal Lake Shikara ride)
  • Day 2: Srinagar → Sonamarg day trip (Thajiwas Glacier) → Return
  • Day 3: Srinagar → Gulmarg day trip (Gondola ride) → Return
  • Day 4: Srinagar → Pahalgam (night stay)
  • Day 5: Pahalgam → Srinagar Airport drop

Cost: from ₹9,000 (Sedan) to ₹25,000 (Fortuner) for 5 days.

🛡️ Safety & Travel Tips

Is Kashmir safe for tourists in 2026?

Yes, absolutely. Kashmir welcomes millions of tourists every year. The tourism infrastructure is excellent — well-patrolled routes, established hotels, and incredibly warm locals. Kashmiris are known for their legendary hospitality. All Hala Rentals drivers are verified locals who prioritize your safety.

What is the best time to visit Kashmir?
  • March-April: Tulip season, pleasant weather, fewer crowds
  • May-June: Peak summer, all roads open, wildflowers
  • July-August: Green monsoon + Amarnath Yatra season
  • September-October: Golden autumn — most photogenic
  • December-February: Snow and skiing in Gulmarg

Best value: March-April or September-October.

Should I carry cash in Kashmir?

Yes. While UPI works in Srinagar, remote areas, pony wallahs, local union taxis, and small shops mostly accept cash only. Carry at least ₹10,000-15,000 in cash for local expenses beyond your cab fare.

Do I need any permits to visit Kashmir?

Indian citizens do not need any permits for standard tourist destinations (Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg, Doodhpathri). Foreign nationals need to register upon arrival. Some remote areas like Gurez Valley require an Inner Line Permit. For the Amarnath Yatra, mandatory registration is required via the SASB portal.
